Mary Doherty
In the Northwest of Ireland lies the Inishowen Peninsula known as Ireland in miniature.Mary comes from an area of Inishowen known as Bocan, an area steeped in history and legend.

One of the features of the landscape is the bogland, once areas of great forests now areas of turf harvesting.
Through time these boglands have unearthed great treasures many of which can be seen today in our national museums. It is also the bogland that gives Mary the material which she works on, Bog oak and Bog Deal, carbon dated to be 6,000 years old, four thousand years before Christ walked this earth.
